FIRST SATURDAY DEVOTIONS

Saturday, February 4th is First Saturday.  There will be special devotions in the chapel following the 9:00 AM Mass. 

WELCOME NIGHT

If you aren’t registered in the parish, but would like to join, call the Rectory Office (649-3090) to make arrangements to register at any time.  Our next official Welcome Night is Thursday, February 16th at 7:30 PM in the Msgr. Nugent Conference Room.  The entire family is welcome to come for this evening, which includes refreshments and a slideshow on all that the parish has to offer.  Stop by the office, call, or email if possible to let us know you’re coming… or just drop by.

BIG MEETING NIGHT

Big Meeting Night will be held Wednesday, March 7th at 7:00 PM Sharp.  Come get involved with one of our “working” committees!

SUNDAY SITTERS BABYSITTING DURING 11:00 AM MASSES

A safe and loving environment for children 6 months through 4 years is provided while their parents and older siblings are participating in the 11:00 AM Eucharistic Liturgy.  We are looking for a few more volunteers who can commit to serving one Sunday a month on a team of 2 adults and 2 teens.  Baby swings, walkers, etc. are also needed.  For questions or to pre-register, call Theresa at 539-5796.  (18 and over must attend a Protecting God’s Children Seminar  and become enrolled in the Virtus Safe Environment continue training program.) 

PRAYER SHAWLS FOR THE SICK

If you know of a sick parishioner or loved one and would like a prayer shawl to give them comfort and assurance of God’s love, contact Cheryl or Lynda in the Rectory Office at 649-3090 ext 100 or 118.

ADORERS NEEDED

Perpetual Eucharist Adoration has brought many blessings to our community and to the individuals involved.  As we hear the Gospel stories of God’s Son walking among us, consider offering your thanks and praise to our Christ our Savior and Brother in this beautiful and enriching way.  There is a special need for adorers at several hours.  Click on the link above for contact information.

SCRIP HELPS EVERYONE

SCRIP is being sold in the church/school foyer after all Masses every weekend.  These gift certificates and cards make great gifts for friends and family AND/OR they can be used for your ordinary shopping ALL while helping the parish at the same time.  Click the link in the heading for more info and order forms.

CLEANING OUT YOUR CLUTTER?

St. Luke’s Mission of Mercy could use your gently used “old” items, especially clothes and furniture for infants and children.  Clear the clutter and help those in need.  Call or email the office for contact information.

ABITIBI RECYCLING

Please bring your recyclable paper to the bright yellow and green bins located behind the school across from the convent.  This win-win practice benefits both the planet and the parish.

CLOTHING FOR ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY

Next to the paper recycling bins (see above) is a bin to receive your donations of new or gently used clothing for the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

CROSS INTERNATIONAL CATHOLIC OUTREACH

THE BRICKS FOR THE PARISH PAVILION

Several sets of engraved bricks have been put in place on the walkway.  Many thanks to all our supporters!  More “brick layers” are still needed however.  For more information on how you can contribute and/or to download a donation form, click on the heading.

PASSAGES SONG VIDEO

Passages Catholic Music Ministry announces the production of a new pro life video, entitled "Rachel's Dance".  The song, which was inspired by the work of Rachel's Vineyard Ministries, speaks to the unending pool of God's mercy and forgiveness available to the many victims of abortions.  You can check out this song on Youtube. While there check out some of their other Catholic faith based songs and videos. 

REUSABLE BAGS AVAILABLE AGAIN

More of the very popular reusable bags from Justice and Peace Committee are now available.  Check the foyer after Masses or stop by the office during regular office hours.  $4 for a bag with our church emblem also supports the work of special needs individuals involved in the manufacture of these environmentally conscious bags.

FAIR TRADE COFFEE

Several varieties of this brew which pays a fair wage to those who produce it are available in the rectory office for $6.

“Food for Thought” is available in the Rectory Office.  More information is available at:  www.odbtv.org.

PASSAGES CD AVAILABLE

The Second Passages Ministry CD, entitled Keeping The Faith, is available for those who would like a copy.  Please feel free to stop by the Rectory Office and pick up your copy. The CDs are available at no charge. Free will offerings are welcome and will be used solely to produce additional CDs for distribution throughout the diocese.  Click on the heading for more information.

FR. NUGENT’S BOOKS

Our former pastor’s wonderful books Spiritual Reflections in Honor of God the Father and Spiritual Reflections II are available in the Rectory Office. Proceeds will go to charity, including St. Bernadette School.

PARISHIONER’S BOOK NOW ON SALE

A newly released book entitled Open My Eyes, written by parishioner Kathy Wabick, is now for sale in the Rectory Office.  A portion of the proceeds will benefit St. Bernadette School.  The book also includes a foreword written by Msgr. Nugent.

SCRIP CARDS AND GIFT CERTIFICATES MAKE GREAT  GIFTS

The Scrip Program, currently a success with our school and religious education families, is now open to everyone in the parish. SCRIP forms and envelopes are available at all the entrances of the church and people are available to take your orders or answer questions in the church school foyer after all Masses.  By ordering SCRIP, you raise money for StBernadette’s without any expense to you, since retailers contribute a percentage to the parish. Take home a form with the details and consider making your regular household shopping dollars work for our community.   Workers will be in the church school foyer after all Masses every weekend, orders may be placed in the school on Tuesday mornings.  For more information and order forms, click the link in the heading.

SCOUT SUNDAY

Scout Sunday will be celebrated at St. Bernadette’s on Sunday, February 5th at the 9 AM Mass. All scouts; boys, girls, and adults are invited to attend. Please wear your uniforms. We will process into church together. If you have a unit flag and stand, feel free to bring it. You may attend individually or with your unit. We will meet in the chapel at 8:45 AM. Refreshments will be served in the Community Room immediately following the Mass. For more information or to let us know that you will be attending, please call Mike Cross at 648-6177.

LITTLE ROCK BIBLE STUDY

“Spirituality of the Gospels” will begin on Wednesday, February 8th at 7:15 PM. This 7-week study will look into each gospel writer's spiritual vision to provide a rich, multi-dimensional portrait of Jesus Christ. Cost is $18/person. Register at first session in the Msgr. WORLD DAY OF THE SICK ANOINTING MASS

The 5:00 PM Mass on Saturday, February 11th, will include the sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.  Anyone who wishes to receive the sacrament should plan to come early so that they may receive an identifying nametag and be directed to special seating.  If you have special needs, please call the rectory and advise us at 649-3090.

WORLD MARRIAGE DAY

Our parish will celebrate at the 9:00 AM Mass on World Marriage Day on Sunday, February 12th.  This will include a special blessing and renewal of vows for married couples .

IT’S TAX TIME AGAIN

If you would like to receive a letter listing your tax deductible contributions to St. Bernadette Church for the 2011 tax year, request on by emailing us, filling out the form in the bulletin, or giving the office a call at 649-3090.  Letters can be emailed to you, sent via USPS or picked up in the office.

MARDI GRAS!

Tickets are on sale now in the office.  Meanwhile, if you could help by placing a donation of one or more scratch-off lottery tickets in the collection basket, it will help get the big prize ready for our drawing that evening.

ASH WEDNESDAY MASSES

Ash Wednesday this year falls on February 22nd.  Masses with distribution of ashes will take place at 7:00 and 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

MARRIAGE PREPARATION

Marriage preparation sessions for those who are preparing for a wedding this year will be offered Friday February 24th & Sunday, February 26th.  To register, please call Jeff and Barb Benz at 649-5854.

BLOOD DRIVE

Our Justice and Peace Committee is sponsoring a blood drive on Sunday, February 26th.  Sign up or just drop by after Mass.

CHICKEN BBQ

St. Bernadette’s School will be having their annual Chiavetta Chicken BBQ on Sunday, March 4th from Noon until 4:00 PM. Take-out only! Tickets pre-sale will be $9.00 until Feb. 26th, then $10 thereafter. Tickets will be on sale after all Masses each weekend as well as in the school and rectory offices

THE PARISH COUNCIL NEEDS YOU!                           

The Parish Pastoral Council has a few positions available for those who are being called to serve. Duties include assisting our Pastor as well as other staff in fostering pastoral activity or care. Your involvement will help guide our parish toward continued and sustained pastoral growth as well as help support other parish ministries and organizations which assist in doing the Lord’s work on a daily basis both here at St. Bernadette as well as in the community at large. Step up and be heard; the Parish Pastoral Council is YOUR voice - the voice of the parishioner.  If you feel the spirit leading you, please contact the Parish Office or Donna Mitchell at 866-9301, email: dmitchell@cks.edu for further information. Young adults are especially encouraged to join.
