On Saturday, November 19th, 60 volunteers, including Confirmation candidates, Confirmation advisors, 7-9th graders, parents, catechist, and our office staff participated in the sponsored Feed My Starving Children “Mobile Pack” at Our Mother of Good Counsel in Blasdell. This two-day event, sponsored by the Physical Therapy Departments of Daemen College and Villa Maria College, allowed the organization to reach their goal to pack 100,000 meals to be mailed overseas. In our two-hour shift, we packaged 18,360 meals!! This means that 50 children will receive a meal a day for an entire year! This was a fun, simple, highly organized, and productive way to make a huge difference! In addition to the hands-on participation, our St. Bernadette children (parish & school) raised roughly $400.00 toward this effort. This dollar amount also guarantees 1.600 additional meals! We are already planning to participate next year! This time, we would like to double or even triple our efforts...and who knows...we may even sponsor this event at our own church in the near future! |
