BEAM, ME UP!

Reconstruction of the beams in our portico (after the bus accident in March) began the week of January 10th.

FOYER FACE-LIFT

Construction began on the lift being installed in the church-school foyer.

BEGGARS FOR LIFE COLLECTING PENNIES

January 23rd and 24th, Beggars for Life, a group of pro-life young people, spoke at three of our weekend Masses, offering facts about abortion and soliciting pennies toward their goal of 1,000,000 pennies to show what 1/50 of the lives lost to abortion would look like.

Portraits of our pastors have been gathered from around the premises into a gallery in the hall outside the rectory offices.  Can you remember them all?

PRAYERS FOR LIFE

On Sunday, January 24, parishioners gathered at

3:00 PM to pray

for all life issues.

BLESSING OF THROATS

Parishioners and school children had their throats blessed on the Feast of St. Blaise, Bishop and Martyr, February 3rd.

FIRST RECONCILIATION RETREAT

Puppets were part of the presentations and fun that took place at the retreat on February 7th for the 2nd grade children who will soon celebrate the sacrament of reconciliation for the first time.

ANOINTING OF THE SICK

Thursday, February 11th, the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, many in need of healing were anointed at a special evening Mass.

SCOUT SUNDAY

At the 9:00 AM Mass on Sunday, February 7th, scouts and leaders took part in the opening procession to start their celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Scouting.  Following Mass, they had a reception in the Community Room.

TOTAL CONSECRATION

to the Immaculate Heart of Mary took place at 6:50 PM on Thursday, February 11th, the culminations of 33 days of prayer.

LIFT INSTALLED

The lift to make our school more handicapped accessible was installed February 10th.

THE LOOK OF LENT

Ash Wednesday, February 17th, began the penitential season of Lent.

THE LOOK OF LOVE

February 14th, Valentine’s Day and World Marriage Day, included a renewal of wedding vows for those attending the 11 AM Mass.

ST. LAWRENCE & ST. BERNADETTE SHARE A LAST PARTY BEFORE LENT

On Saturday, February 13th, Fr. Paul’s former parish and his current parish joined together to put on a great Mardi Gras celebration for both congregations.  With music by The Jazz Chaps from St. Bernadette and food by Fr. Paul and his good friends, Drs. Ed & Leigh Simone, a great time was had by all.  (MORE PICTURES HERE.)

MARRIAGE REFRESHMENT

Deacon Tom and Gini Schultz, co-directors of Family Life Ministries were among the presenters the evening of February 12th.

PALMS TO BURN

Last year’s palms were collected to make this year’s ashes.

REUSABLE BAGS

Our Justice and Peace Committee sponsored a non-profit sale of reusable bags which both benefited special needs workers and the earth.

Fr. Richard met with second graders to address their concerns before their First Reconciliation on Tuesday, March 2nd.

ALTER SERVER OF THE YEAR

Evangelista Schmarder, pictured here with Bishop Kmiec and Fr. Paul, was honored at the diocese on Saturday, February 27th.

THE OLD IS NEW

A previously retired confessional with screens is being restored for use.

SOUP AND STATIONS

Justice and Peace Committee is sponsoring simple Soup Suppers at 6:00 PM on many of the Fridays during Lent - meatless meals in the spirit of  fasting and almsgiving where offerings of “beans for bellies” and “bucks for beds” are collected for those in need.

Soup and the Stations of the Cross which follow are provided by various groups from the parish.
